Nestled in the Tuscarora Mountains, near Mecersburg, PA, Foot of the Mountain Restaurant was established in 1971 by Robert and Katherine Ball. Formally known as “Miller’s Drive-In“, we went from hoagies and soft ice cream to a full service family restaurant in a few years. Robert and Katherine contributed twenty years working and building the business; holding positions as cook, baker and server, creating recipes and expanding the building. Robert and Katherine still invest time and energy in the business, helping during busy holidays and consulting on a weekly basis.
My name is Susan Musselman, daughter of Robert and Katherine. I came on full time as a server in 1975. Six years later I started learning the kitchen aspect of the business and in 1991 purchased the restaurant when my parents retired. As the second generation owner, I work side by side with my employees, two of them being my sons, and continue to use Mom and Dad’s recipes.
Most of our menu selections are made fresh in our kitchen using fresh local produce and meats. Our own sausage, fresh cut steaks, crab cakes, corn fritters and many desserts make for a busy kitchen atmosphere. The servers spend their time making sure our patrons’ needs are met in a clean and friendly environment.
Our private upstairs banquet room is the perfect place for that special event. Really the skies the limit: from a prime rib and crab cake dinner to a hamburger and French fries. It’s all up to you. Our goal is to make your special event one of fond memories.
